Tim Duncan is a bit of a nerd. We love him for it, but it’s just a fact of NBA life. Perhaps the most outward show of his official nerd-dom is Duncan’s appreciation for the Punisher, Marvel’s antihero of infinite justice. After all, Duncan has a knee brace with a Punisher aesthetic; he obviously has no problem showing his affinity for comic books.

And now Duncan’s appreciation for the Punisher is being rewarded by Marvel. Duncan and his auto shop, “Black Jack Speed Shop,” will be featured in an upcoming issue of the Punisher, where it looks like Duncan will be providing the titular character with a nice set of wheels. (Tip o’ the hat to our friends over at Project Spurs for bringing this one to our attention):

And you, too can be part of the Marvel experience, sports fan. Well, kind of. Black Jack Speed Shop will build a replica of the vehicle featured in the comic to be either raffled or auctioned off. All proceeds will go to a local San Antonio charity.

So, comic book/NBA fans, the next time you’re flipping through the pages of a mainstream piece of graphic art, you might just see a familiar face. Here’s hoping he gets to have at least one bug-eyed reaction to the plot as it unfolds. Maybe Timmy can even rescue the Punisher when it’s least expected? The man’s a champion, after all.
