As we showed you on

Monday

, Los Angeles Clippers forward, Blake Griffin performed slam poetry in a series of new commercials for VIZIO. Last night, Griffin decided to try out this material at an open mic at the famed Los Angeles comedy club, the Laugh Factory.

Comedian

Neal Brennan has dubbed Griffin as the funniest NBA player

of all time and Griffin has actually

performed comedy at the Upright Citizens Brigade

in Los Angeles before but that was part of a group show. So understandably Griffin could have been nervous to get on stage and perform live. It was going to be just him, the mic and the crowd:

If Griffin had any nervous butterflies he shook them off, got on stage and received a warm reception from the crowd:

Jill Painter Lopez  of Fox Sports was there to document the experience and talked with Griffin about his performance:

"Griffin was well received, even if it was just a small crowd. He wasn’t nervous. “No, because I was able to look down and reference and read,” Griffin told FoxSportsWest.com. “It’s a little different being on stage like that by yourself.” And it helped that he scored laughs. “The first laugh is always key,” Griffin said. “I’ve done some improv stuff. Once you get your first laugh, you’re good. Up until that point it’s a little nerve-racking.”Griffin didn’t pen the words. “I wish it was (mine),” he said. “I guess I had some creative input. I can’t take all the credit.”This wasn’t Griffin’s first time at the Laugh Factory. He said he’d been a few times as a patron. “It’s amazing you can come here and catch an amazing comedian on any random night,” Griffin said. “That’s what’s great about a place like this, being Los Angeles, and going to comedy clubs.”"

Hopefully this will become a regular thing for Griffin and soon he will have his own Comedy Central Half Hour special.
