The Timberwolves’ ‘Dunks After Dark’ Gives Fans An Opportunity To Coach Alongside Flip Saunders

The Minnesota Timberwolves made some big changes to their roster this offseason when they traded their starting power forward and three-time All-Star, Kevin Love, to the Cleveland Cavaliers for the last two number one overall picks, Andrew Wiggins and Anthony Bennett. And because of that, they are jazzing up their training camp by hosting Dunks After Dark, an event modelled off of college basketball’s Midnight Madness, to show off their new team.
The event will serve as a conclusion to the team’s media day on September 29th, and it will be open to the public, free of charge, with the doors opening at 11:00 p.m. at Minnesota State University. The players are expected to take the court at around midnight.
Headlining the event will be an intersquad scrimmage and, more importantly, a dunk contest between their two high flying rookies, Andrew Wiggins and Zach LaVine. But to make it all the more interesting, the Timberwolves announced (in the form of a video featuring a very excited Flip Saunders explaining it all) that they are holding a contest. What’s on the line, you ask? Well, the two lucky winners will get a chance to be Saunders’ guest coaches during the scrimmage. All that needs to be done: submit a video of your best rally call on Twitter or Instagram with #DunksAfterDark.

Thankfully, though, or all of us non-Minnesotans who want to watch all the festivities, it will be broadcast live on NBA TV. It also means that the start of the NBA season is around the corner.
