There aren’t many fish bigger in the NBA pond than Kevin Durant, and with that comes some perks. Lucrative perks, in fact, in the form of maximum contracts and numerous endorsement deals. And when those said contracts expire, many years after they’ve been signed, the gloves come off and the bidding wars commence. For Durant, that’s exactly what happened this summer. (Well, not the NBA contract part. We have to wait two more years for that. Rather, his shoe contract with Nike ended, making him due for an extension.)

By now, it’s all well known. Under Armor went after the NBA’s reigning MVP in a big way, throwing an offer his way that was too good to turn down — 10-years, $285 million. Even for Nike, a company that brought in $12.5 billion worth of profit last season, that’s a ton of money to sign someone to. They could’ve let him walk, but they didn’t. Instead, they gave him an even better offer, worth $300 million.

So, clearly, Nike wanted to keep Durant around. Even if his shoes aren’t selling as well as one of their other clients, LeBron James, he’s still raking in the big bucks for them, making it all worth it. But if a $300 million cheque wasn’t enough to convince him that they’re thrilled to have him under contract for the next decade, Nike threw him an early birthday party at their headquarters in Beaverton, Oregon, this week, and it was quite impressive.

Per Kicks On Fire:

"You always need to have a cake and pinata at a birthday bash and Nike definitely brought out all the stops. The cake, made by Cake Boss, had a fondant Nike KD 7 “35K Degrees” sneaker and pinata was designed to look like a basketball with the KD logo on the front. Nike Says Happy Birthday To Kevin Durant | Kicks On Fire"

If that description doesn’t make your mouth water, here are some pictures for you to look over:

According to @mauricio42 on Instagram, Nike also hooked Durant up with some Redskins-inspired KD7s, because, you know, he’s a big Redskins fan.

Kevin Durant is living the good life. Now, where do I sign to get all this?
