Russell Westbrook wishes Kevin Durant a happy birthday, despite the odds
By Ian Levy
Russell Westbrook can’t play with Kevin Durant! He’s a ball hog for one thing. All he does is jack up shots and completely ruin the Oklahoma City Thunder offense. He never passes the ball to last year’s MVP, and if he had the choice of a bounce pass or a dunk, he’d take the dunk. This kind of selfishness is a blight to any NBA team, and it’s ridiculous. Do you want to know why Scott Brooks doesn’t draw up plays at the end of games? It’s not because of a lack of skill. Brooks is trapped in a roster he can’t escape. The sole man responsible for this is Russell Westbrook. If he ever got to touch the ball at the end of games, then Durant would never get it. If this guy had his way, Durant would be on a one way trip out of OKC, leaving the team, and all the shots, for Mr Russell Westbrook.
Of course, the biggest reason of all why these two can’t coexist, is they hate each other. They hate each other so much, that it boggles my mind why Russell Westbrook would wish Kevin Durant a happy birthday, on Instagram.
Maybe the reason he posted this picture is because…they don’t hate each other. Despite everyone telling me that they do hate each other, it would make sense if they didn’t. After all, these two have spent most of their careers together, and clearly feed off one another to get better. Westbrook drawing away defenses, leaving Durant to be an ultra efficient basketball machine. They’re practically best friends.
Maybe these two like each other after all. Maybe ultra-competitive athletes sometimes get snippy with each other when they’re being competitive, but they’re still brothers-in-arms. Maybe Kevin Durant and Russell Westbrook really love each other.
