Jalen Rose unveils “The Mansion,” his ultimate legendary piece of jewelry

Jalen Rose himself puts it best in this Grantland video, “I called the bracelet idiotic when I was 40, not when I was 25.” The bracelet in question is “The Mansion,” so named by Rose just before he made the purchase because, well, it cost as much as a mansion.

From Grantland:

"Today, Jalen Rose is the responsible, measured, charter-school-founding role model you enjoy on Grantland and ESPN. “Story Time With Jalen Rose: The Mansion” is not about the Jalen Rose of today. “Story Time with Jalen Rose: The Mansion” is about a child wishing he had the finer things in life, a young man purchasing all of them, and then an adult realizing that they can’t be bought."

Let Rose describe “The Mansion.”

"18-carat yellow gold containing six links. Each center link contains 63 invisibly set princess cut diamonds. Sides contain two curved columns with nine begets on each and twelve Pave set round brilliant diamonds."

Now let Jalen Rose show you “The Mansion”:

“The Mansion” fulfilled a childhood dream for Rose, but he recognizes its limitations. Like he says, he can’t wear it when he’s picking up his daughters from school. He can’t wear it at Jalen Rose Leadership Academy meetings. It’s a little bit ostentatious for those settings, and there’s a larger problem at hand: it can go into Ark of the Covenant-mode in the wrong lighting.
