The Minnesota Timberwolves visited the Verizon Center in Washington D.C. on Tuesday night and fell to the Washington Wizards 109-95. Since they had a couple of off days before meeting the Celtics in Boston on Friday night, the coaching staff decided to have a team bonding day in the nation’s capitol. They visited some of the usual tourist traps, like Arlington Cemetery (pictured above), the Lincoln Memorial and the Washington Mall, but also got a private tour of the Pentagon, among other things.

A bunch of the players recorded the day’s events on Instagram and Twitter, and because the Wolves have such a young squad (Zach LaVine and Andrew Wiggins are 19, Glenn Robinson III is 20, Anthony Bennett is 21 and Shabazz Muhammad is 22), it sort of looks like a high school or college class went on a field trip. That’d make the coaching staff (and 32-year-old Mo Williams) chaperones. Let’s see if the kids behaved themselves on the daylong excursion in Washington D.C.:

– A nice group shot of the kids. Looks like they’re keeping on the straight and narrow so far.

– A tour of the Pentagon…

– Where everybody lined up politely and took turns taking pictures with one of the most powerful men in America, the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, Martin Dempsey:

DAMMIT, MO, YOU’RE SUPPOSED TO BE SETTING AN EXAMPLE, GET AWAY FROM CHAIRMAN OF THE JOINT CHIEFS OF STAFF MARTIN DEMPSEY’S DESK THIS INSTANT, YOUNG MAN!

– Gorgui Dieng didn’t have any trouble acting like a grown up, taking time to meet and chat with the Senegalese Ambassador Diagne:

– After the day’s festivities, the group went out for a nice dinner. Remember when you were on a field trip and you and your boy were trying to take a cool picture with a famous person and a lame chaperone insisted he be in the picture too? That’s exactly what happened to Ricky Rubio and Nikola Pekovic here. Thanks a lot, Mr. Penberthy.

– And no field trip to Washington D.C. is complete without a picture of the Washington Monument at night. Thanks for doing your due diligence, Robbie Hummel:
