A few weeks ago, Monty Williams caught a bad break when the Pelicans told him to get lost, despite achieving the goal the front office had set before him at the beginning of the season. The Pelicans made the playoffs, and then, after getting swept by the much more talented Warriors, Williams still lost his job. In the process, he lost the opportunity to coach Anthony Davis, who despite being just 22 years old, is one of the best players in the league.

The good news is that Williams kept looking for oppers, cause anything’s possible, yeah. Today, it paid off, when Williams was offered the opportunity to be an assistant coach on Billy Donovan’s Oklahoma City Thunder staff.

Losing the chance to coach Anthony Davis must have been pretty rough, but Williams bounced right back and snagged the opportunity to coach Russell Westbrook and Kevin Durant. When

the Thunder knock the Pelicans out of the playoffs next year, it will surely be quite the moment for Coach Williams.
