Welcome back to our NBA Pokemon series.

Countless pens have run dry, an untold amount of letters have been worn off of keyboards as NBA scribes have struggled to make sense of Evan Turner’s NBA career. Likewise, numerous Pokemon trainers the world over have been frustrated by the little duck Pokemon known as Psyduck.

Quick, let’s play a little game. Was this sentence written about Evan Turner or Psyduck?

“____ is constantly stunned by its headache and is unable to think very clearly.”

Correct answer: Yes.

Yet, the most frustrating thing about both Turner and Psyduck, is not that they are bad at what they do. It’s that there’s so much potential for them to be better. There was a reason Evan Turner was the 2nd overall pick in the 2010 Draft. He’s a tremendous ball-handler for his size, can create his own shot at will, rebounds well for a guard, and can guard multiple positions on defense. The tools are there for him to be a successful player, but only rarely do we see results we expect. More often, the result is something like this.

The same goes for Psyduck. Its psychic powers are extremely powerful, however, only on occasion do they actually work as intended. Far too often, Psyduck is rendered useless by its headache, never getting around to doing much of anything. Or instead, doing the complete opposite of what it should do, as you can see here.

Still, like teams will keep taking a chance on Turner, Pokemon trainers will continue to catch Psyducks, because nothing is more enticing than untapped potential.
