Welcome back to Last night in the WNBA Playoffs, a running post you’ll see throughout the next month or so as we march towards the crowning of a new WNBA champion.

Indiana Fever 75 – Minnesota Lynx 69 (Fever lead 1-0)

Unreal.

Marissa Coleman brought the heat…

…But everyone was cold to start. Seriously, the first quarter was really ugly. Maya Moore got a bucket on this nifty spin, but that was about it for good things that happened. The frame finished with both teams tied at 10.

Maya started to take over in the second quarter, giving the Lynx a slight lead.

Briann January scored the Fever’s next seven points after that bucket though, as the Fever built a six point advantage going into the break.

Lindsay Whalen don’t dance, she just spin in the paint and, do the fadeaway.

For most of the third quarter, and deep into the fourth, the Fever were able to keep the Lynx at an arm’s length. Every time the Lynx tried to make something happen, the Fever were ready with an answer.

Finally though, with four and a half minutes left, the Lynx took the lead. AND. IT. WAS. LIT.

But the Fever weren’t phased. Marissa Coleman went on a 5-0 run by herself, and Briann January hit a sweet layup after the nasty crossover, and all of a sudden the Fever were back up by five.

The Lynx had the ball down three with less than 20 seconds to go, but Tamika Catchings (Who else?) came up with a clutch steal, taking the ball away from Maya Moore and icing the game at the line.

Briann January was incredible, finishing with 19 points and 6 assists to lead the Fever.
