Through the Miami Heat’s first eight playoff games, Luol Deng has been spectacular. The forward has averaged 17.9 points per game on 53.7 percent from behind the arc. The reason according to Goran Dragić? Sandwiches.

SANDWICHES!

I have a theory. In light of recent reports of Space Jam 2‘s production, Luol felt an itch to watch the original film. Of course, in Space Jam, Michael Jordan and the Tune Squad are losing to the Monstars at half. The Looney Toons are distraught, because, well, they’ll be enslaved at Moron Mountain if they don’t defeat the aliens. M.J., being the team leader that he was, had to reinstall confidence in his team. He took a bottle of water, wrote “Michael’s Secret Stuff” on it and passed it around to the furry cartoons. In a case study of the “Placebo Effect”, the ‘toons thought the drink had improved their basketball-playing skills and came out in the second half determined to win.

So basically, Luol Deng’s sandwich is just a normal sandwich, but don’t tell Goran Dragić.
