The Toronto Raptors Superfan brings thousands of kids to Raptors games
Throughout the playoffs more and more attention has been shown to Nav Bhatia, the superfan of the Toronto Raptors. With how much he cares about the team and his unique place as a Sikh pseudo-celebrity, it made sense that someone would write a cool profile of Bhatia.
That came on Wednesday when the Toronto Star caught up with Bhatia and spoke to him about his start as the Raptors superfan and more. The whole conversation is well worth your time, but one thing really stood out as cool about the conversation was the detail that Bhatia dropped about bringing other fans to games.
"Now I have 10 seats — I have six courtsides and four platinum seats and once a year I buy thousands of kids tickets to the game. It’s very expensive, it’s over $300,000."
Bhatia goes on to tell a story about why he decided to start bringing that many kids to games which again is worth the read.
The entire gesture is great. Basketball is becoming a global game but any time that more kids can get involved, especially a group that may not traditionally be basketball fans, it is even better.
So good on you Mr. Bhatia. Hopefully we start getting more stories along these lines soon.
