Joe Young and Fred Jones help make a fan’s wish come true
A lot of NBA basketball fans consider themselves sneaker heads. A smaller amount of NBA basketball fans are young kids dealing with cancer. On Saturday afternoon Indiana Pacers point guard Joe Young and former Pacer Fred Jones teamed up to make the day of a fan that finds himself in both camps.

According to the Indy Star, Jones and his business partner Carl Bradley, who run The Luxury Sneaker Exchange, created a custom pair of Jordan 5 sneakers for a 12-year-old named Jaycob Solomon who is currently battling hemophagocytic lymphohistiocytosis and Young was on hand to deliver them to Jaycob.
"“Sweet,” Jaycob said, as he struggled to open the box without dropping the shoes. Inside was a pair of orange and blue size 10 ½ single-edition shoes — “a one of one,” Bradley said. “We incorporated things Jaycob likes to really make it his. We call this the Jaycob 5.”Things like a logo from the movie “Fast & Furious,” a decal for the Kokomo Police Department (Ty Solomon is a police officer), his name on the tongue of the shoe and a logo for one of his favorite TV shows, Gas Monkey Garage’s “Fast n’ Loud,” which also sent along a shirt and a hat signed by the cast."
Solomon also received a bike from the group which worked with the Little Wish Foundation, which works to grant wishes to kids valued between $300 and $800.
Jones and his partner did a great job on the sneakers and it was really great to see Young take part in the day.
