Dirk Nowitzki is a world-class athlete. While he definitely is not among the best athletes in the NBA anymore, Dirk is more athletic than 99 percent of the world’s population. Thanks to that athleticism, Dirk is able to play soccer at a pretty fair level for someone who is a professional in another field. That is great for Dirk because he loves playing in charity soccer games around the world and when he does he typically does not embarrass himself.

That is until he tried to score a goal with a bicycle kick on Wednesday.

I love that man.

More from NBA

Really Dirk’s first mistake was thinking that a bicycle kick is something that someone seven feet tall should be able to do. While I’m not a soccer expert by any means, a bicycle kick feels like something designed for shorter people as they are able to get off the ground with enough room to spin their body around much more easily. There are just too many inches of limbs for someone as big as Dirk to successful pull this off.

The game wasn’t all embarrassing for Dirk though, as he scored the game’s first goal.

Honestly I’m going to be pretty devastated when Nowitzki retires because the NBA is just a better place with him but if someone is willing to just hold charity soccer games every week of the year all around the country and keeps inviting Dirk I will be a bit more consolable.
