As someone who went to a “football school”, I can confirm that early September is a great time to be a football fan. With big out-of-conference games leading to social media bragging rights, things get fun. For NBA players who went to big schools, early September also means a chance for bragging rights. Or as Pat Connaughton found out late Sunday, a chance for push ups.

The punishment was a result of a bet between Connaughton and Myles Turner on the game between their alma maters. It started with a simple tweet from Connaughton that drew a response from Turner.

From there, Connaughton laid out the stakes.

Then, because this is social media, Frank Kaminsky got involved. Apparently because he hates Notre Dame.

Anyway, back to the important matter, Connaughton doing push ups. Breaking out the ACC championship hat and net is a pretty great, if nonsensical move. Neither Texas or Wisconsin are in the ACC, so Connaughton didn’t beat either of the other guys to win the crown. It seems it was just his way of feeling better.

Next: Turner's fellow Texas alum Kevin Durant got some new ink

It is also unclear why exactly he did 30 push ups. Adding his bet of five to Kaminsky’s bet of 25 explains how he got to the number, but why he would do that is unclear. Either way, the entire sequence is great. Even if it makes no sense at all.
