When the Minnesota Timberwolves signed veteran point guard Andre Miller this summer many assumed that it was to help with veteran leadership in the locker room. With Miller, Tayshaun Prince and Kevin Garnett the young Wolves like Ricky Rubio, Andrew Wiggins and Karl-Anthony Towns all had plenty of players to learn the art of professionalism from.

As it turns out that wasn’t all they were learning as Rubio and Wiggins showed off something straight out of the Andre Miller playbook on Wednesday night when they connected for a long distance alley-oop.

That is just a perfect toss from Rubio, made even more impressive by the fact that he threw it mid-dribble. Tossing a good alley-oop is hard enough, doing so from that distance is incredibly difficult and Rubio makes it look so simple.

Then again, considering that Rubio is such a gifted passer anyway and is now being tutored by Miller, the NBA’s lob king, this shouldn’t be that much of a surprise.
